Active Training Network Lifeguard Course Agreement

The following information is the prerequisites for attending the RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. These have been outlined in the RLSS publication "The Lifeguard".

  •  Demonstrate that you are fit and healthy
  • Jump or dive into deep water
  • Swim 50 metres in a one minute or less
  • Swim 100 metres continuously on the front and then on the back
  • Tread water in deep water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the deepest part of the pool
  • Climb out of the pool unaided, without using steps or a ladder

Candidates must be able to complete the above prior to starting the course. Therefore it is advisable that you go to your local swimming pool and ensure that you can achieve the prerequsites. If you are unsure of your ability, Active Training Network deliver ongoing training at several venues in the Merseyside and West Lancs area and you are welcome to attend one of these sessions and have a precourse "Swim Check".

Active Training Network has the right to ask a candidate the leave the course if their swimming ability is not to the correct level that is required to complete the course. The lifeguard course prerequisites are the minimum standard to attend the course and the course is not to teach candidates to swim. but we will develop your level of fitness and  your swimming techniques to improve your performance.

Paying for the course online you have agreed that you are able to achieve the prerequisites.

Active Training Network will not refund the cost of the course if a candidate is not at the correct level but offer the opportunity to attend a course at a later date.

Active Training Network has the right to cancel the course within four days of the start date due the mimimum numbers - the minimum numbers to deliver a course is six candidates.
